The Chevrolet Corvette Singray concept is an amazing car, there's no doubt about that.

And now for those of you who've been waiting for this car to go to production, we have some pretty interesting news for you. Reports have suggested that the Corvette Stingray concept might play a more prominent role in our lives - and imaginations - than just being the Autobot "Sideswipe" in the Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie. Turns out, its design will be the inspiration for the next generation Chevrolet Corvette sports car.

A senior GM insider said in an interview with AutoWeek that the C7 "will be the last of the traditional, old-style Corvettes" and that the company is preparing a revolutionary new concept for the C8 Corvette. Its designers will focus on reducing weight and aerodynamic drag. Also, for the C8, the V8 engine will be replaced a twin turbocharged V6 engine with a total output of 440 hp.

But before you jump up and down your couch, we have some sobering news: the new C8 won't be out on the streets until 2016.

But hey, it's coming, right? So what if we have to wait a little longer?
