Chevy->ke199 just dropped cover on its redesigned super-efficient and ultra-green minicar, the Spark,->ke3267 slated to sell in over 40 markets worldwide.

Features of the new model include a revised fascia with swept-back headlights and an enlarged dual-port grille, plus three new exterior colors (Toasted Marshmallow, Kalamata and Splash) depending on the market. The car’s dimensions are also updated, with a slightly extended wheelbase and 1.6-inch height drop. The lower profile is intended to reduce aerodynamic drag, while the altered interior space maintains the current model’s headroom. The cabin also sees upgraded materials for enhanced comfort, durability and refinement. Additionally, a new, stronger body structure allows for a ride that’s quieter, smoother and more controlled.

Powering the 2016 Spark is a new aluminum 1.4-liter Ecotec inline-four cylinder engine, which can be mated a CVT for an estimated 40 mpg on the highway. A five-speed manual is also available. Output is rated at roughly 98 horsepower, which is a 16-percent increase over the current Spark.

Safety features inckude Side Blind Spot Alert, Lane Departure Warning and Forward Collision Alert. Inside, there’s a next-generation Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system with an integrated 7-inch color touchscreen, plus an advanced dot-matrix LCD instrument cluster display. A rear-vision camera system is standard, while rear park assist is an option. Chevy also promises a “comprehensive lineup of accessory packages for unprecedented personalization options.”

The 2016 Spark will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015.
