It's no secret that the front fascia of the 2019 Camaro wasn't received all that well with fans, and Chevrolet seems to have realized this. At the upcoming SEMA show later this month, Chevrolet will introduce the Camaro SS Shock Concept with a new grille design -- one that Chevy wants to bring to the production model as quickly as possible.

Good To See That The Automaker Did Not Turn A Blind-Eye To This

The Camaro has been a fan-favorite its entire life, and people have been praising it for its driving dynamics and performance, more so now than ever. However, fans were quite vocal about their dislike for the front of the Camaro SS. In fact, the design was run down so badly that Chevrolet could see the sales dipping and the front fascia was criticized all over the internet.

Actually, the problem was with the black paint of the bar, and not the placement of the badge. Other Chevy products like the 2019 Cruze and Malibu also get the centered logo, but none have the blacked-out center fascia to give it a floating effect. The bowtie has also been moved back to the grille where it belongs. It only took days since the concept was first showcased and there's already word that Chevy wants to move that front design into production - probably for the 2020 model year.

When Sales Go Down, Pressure Goes Up

Even though Chevrolet did not say much about the new front end treatment, GM Authority has reported that Chevrolet is rushing to get the new design into production at the earliest. While nothing is official, the report suggests low sales to be the cause of this hurry. GM Authority also says that there is pressure on the automaker as “the take rate and interest in the vehicle has said to have dropped.”

The pre-facelift front was preferred to the current one. However, after seeing the SEMA show car in yellow, the feedback has been positive, and that is why Chevrolet is in a hurry to bring it to production. There has been no announcement as to when the updated Camaro would hit the dealers, but we suspect that the announcement could happen at SEMA. The show starts on October 30.
