It has been some time since the C8 Corvette was launched. This means it’s time for the hotter C8 Corvette Z06 to arrive. Many test mules have been spotted in the past, and now we have another. What makes it better this time is that you can hear it rev to its 9,000-rpm redline. The Z06 was caught testing its launch control system at the company’s Proving Ground in Milford, Michigan. Is this what bliss sounds like?

That C8 Z06 Sounds Like A Ferrari!

The C8 Corvette Z06 is expected to feature a 5.5-liter, flat-plane crank V-8 engine. This naturally aspirated engine will rev to 8,500 and 9,000 rpm. There’s no word on the power outputs yet, but it is expected to be in the 600 and 700 horsepower range. Car and Driver had recently spotted the Z06 alongside the Ferrari 458 Italia, which is also powered by a flat-plane V-8. This is the reason why it even sounds eerily similar to the 458. You can see the C8 Z06’s driver stop it multiple times and test the launch control system.

In comparison, the standard C8 Corvette comes with a 6.2-liter, cross-plane crank V-8 that makes 490 horses and takes 2.8 seconds to 60 mph from rest. Chevy is also working on the C8 ZR1, which will have the same engine as the Z06, but with a couple of turbos to complement it. With this benchmark in hand, we expect the C8 Z06 to clock 0-60 mph in under 2.8 seconds.

Is This The C8 Z06 Or The C8 ZR1?

A few test mules in the past have been spotted with a center-exit exhaust system, but this model features them on the sides. So, it looks like the one in this video is the Z06 whereas the other center-exit setup belongs to the ZR1. With so many 9,000 rpm-breaching revving options in the market now – Ferrari Competizione being the latest – we can’t help but be excited to mesmerize ourselves to sweet acoustics while these vehicles redline to glory.

The C8 Z06 is expected to arrive next year and will be priced north of $80,000.
