Rumors about certain Chinese carmakers planning to come to the U.S. have been flying around for years, but nothing has happened as of early 2018. However, there are signs that we may soon get vehicles made in Asia. Trumpchi, a brand owned by GAC Group, is supposed to begin selling an SUV in North America in 2019, while GAC itself has already tested U.S. waters with a couple of concepts at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. Fast forward 12 months and GAC is bringing another batch of new vehicles to Detroit.

The state-owned company will be showcasing two new cars in Detroit next week, starting with the GA4, a compact sedan marketed under the Trumpchi badge. The four-door is still a mystery at this point, with the only information available being that it rides on a platform developed in-house. The second vehicle on the list is the Enverge, an aggressive-looking electric car aimed at a young audience. The teaser shot shows a coupe-like crossover with slim headlamps and massive wheels, but the rendering is probably exaggerated compared to the actual show cars.

Finally, we will see a range of Trumpchi models that are already available in China. First up is the GS8, a midsize SUV that will become the first Chinese vehicle sold in the U.S. It's powered by a 2.0-liter turbo engine, a six-speed automatic transmission, and an all-wheel-drive system. The GA8 luxury sedan and the GM8 minivan will also be on display in Detroit. The GA8 could go against the Volvo S90 and Genesis G80, while the GM8 could provide competition for the Chrysler Pacifica and Honda Odyssey.

We will find out more about these vehicles as the Detroit Auto Show kicks off next week so make sure you stick around for updates.
