Chris Harris has been around enough supercars to know which ones are the real deal and which ones leave a lot to be desired. The opinionated British auto presenter recently took hold of Maranello’s latest supercar, the Ferrari 488 Spider, and as you can expect, Harris had plenty to say about the successor to the Ferrari 458 Spider.->ke5074

The status of the latter as one of Ferrari’->ke252s best modern-day supercars->ke177 meant that certain connections between the two convertible->ke144 supercars had to be made. Like a true pro, Harris went by some of the 488 Spider’s features and compared them to that of its predecessor. Among his most striking points was Ferrari’s adoption of a new 3.9-liter, twin-turbocharged, V-8 that clearly surpasses anything Ferrari has done in the past. Think the Ferrari Enzo->ke389 can beat the 488 Spider in a speed race? Harris is confident in his answer and it won’t look good for the mighty Enzo.

Any discussion surrounding the 488 Spider must also talk about its competition, which in this case is the McLaren 650S Spyder -- a supercar built by McLaren->ke284 with every intention of beating Ferrari->ke252 and Lamborghini.->ke44 There’s certainly an argument to be made for both cars and Harris wasn’t shy about saying what he thought of the 488 Spider’s chances against its McLaren counterpart.

In the end, Harris seems to agree with the majority of motoring opinions about the 488 Spider. It’s another feather in the cap of Ferrari, an inspired piece of Italian engineering that showcases everything we love about the Prancing Horse.
