Citroën’s flagship presentation this year at the Paris Motor Show is the pre-production study for the brand’s first plug-in hybrid model. Dubbed the C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid Concept, it will go on sale from 2020. The SUV on display at the show features a special White and Deep Blue color code, with Electric Blue accents.

Exterior and Drivetrain

The C5 Aircross SUV Hybird rides on 19-inch Anthracite alloy wheels. The two-tone white and blue combination is carried on the inside as well. The seats are trimmed in fabric and beige leather.

The combined power output is rated at 222 horses. Power will be sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission that has been specifically upgraded to optimize gear shifting. A brake mode is also present that allows deceleration without pressing the brake pedal.

How Efficient Is It?

In hybrid mode, the C5 Aircross Hybrid SUV produces a torque of 248 pound-feet. Thanks to the i-booster system that recovers the energy produced while decelerating and braking, the C5 Aircross Hybrid emits less than 50 g/km of CO2. The fuel economy is claimed at 141.2 mpg in the U.K. In pure electric mode, it can cover 31 miles. Citroen has equipped a Sport Mode in the C5 Aircross Hybrid SUV to extract maximum performance.

If charged using an external source, it takes between four hours and eight hours on a standard socket. The battery can get fully charged in 2 hours if used with a 32A wall box.
