Citroen will unveil the new C5 in 2008, a new model that will give Citroën a new face. The new French brand's family saloon will get the front end styling of last year’s dramatic C-Metisse concept, in an attempt to compete with Ford’s smart new Mondeo and the next Renault Laguna.

The new model will be "more conventional, but more handsome". It will also be more luxurious and built to a higher quality, with interior cues such as the twin LCD dashboard screens lifted from the innovative C4 Picasso. The C6’s head-up display is likely to be an option.

It will have a longer wheelbase than the current C5 and a more spacious cabin. The car will use a development of Citroën’s air suspension (also as seen on the C6), and engines will include the 2.7-litre, PSA-Ford V6 diesel and PSA's own 3.0-litre V6 petrol.
