After nearly seven years on the market, the second-generation Continental GT is getting ready to enter the history books and make way for a redesigned grand tourer. Built on a new platform and with a much lighter aluminum body, the third-gen Conti GT also brings new technology and a revised drivetrain into dealerships. And as it is the case with all new Bentley products, it features new technology and a large amount of new luxury items. There's new wood veneer, new display, and a rotating infotainment screen, just a name a few, on top of the state-of-the-art interior design and the powerful W-12 engine.

The new grand tourer has yet to make a proper auto show debut, which is scheduled to take place at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show, but Bentley has already launched an online configurator for the car. There aren't any prices available and you can't browse through all the Mulliner options, but it has what it takes to help you create your next Continental GT. And if you can't afford one, it's an entertaining way to play with all the color, upholstery, and equipment options you can get in one of the most luxurious vehicles available as of 2017. Check it out below.

Exterior

If you enjoy having fun with colors in car configurators, than be prepared to spend a lot of time in this one. The new Continental GT comes with a ton of color options, ranging from solid, subtle hues to flashy, metallic shades. The standard palette includes 17 options. About half of them are various shades of black, gray, and silver, but you can select more exotic finishes like Camel (sand beige), Portofino (light blue), and St. James Red. If none of these are appealing, you can check out the Extended Paint section, which includes 13 more colors, most them in a metallic finish. Of course, some of them revolve around the usual black, gray, and silver, but you can also go with flashy finishes like Moroccan Blue, Orange Flame, Rubino Red, and Sequin Blue.

Once you've selected the color, you can move over to the wheels. Here, you'll find a selection of 21- and 22-inch rims. The 21-inch rollers come in either double-five-spoke or ten-spoke designs, and finishes include painted, machined, or polished. Moving over to the 22-inch wheels, you can choose between three Mulliner options. All have a double-five-spoke design, but you can go with either painted, black and polished edge, or polished alloy.

A few other options are available, starting with the bright chrome lower bumper grille and chrome strip. There's also a laminated and heated windshield, LED welcome lamps from Mulliner and "welcome home" lighting. You can also delete all exterior Bentley badges for a cleaner look.

Interior

Inside, you get to choose between many upholstery options. First, you need to select the split of the two-tone upholstery. It's basically selecting if you want more of the light color or more of the dark one. Then you have to select the main and secondary leather color. There are 14 main hide choices and 11 secondary hide choice. This means you get almost 150 possibilities from an overall dark cabin with a more sober feel to eye catching contrasts that combine tan with green or purple or red with blue.

Veneer choices are just as diverse. You get eight single finish veneers, including eucalyptus, walnut, ash, koa, and the classic piano black, but you can also go with the fancier dual finish veneer. Options include combinations of piano black with eucalyptus, madrona, ash, and amber. You can have any of the above with regular stitching, contrast stitching, or contrast stitching with piping on the seats. Bentley badge stitching is also an option, while the steering wheel can be had in single or duo-tone leather. The floor carpets can be matched to either the main or the secondary hide.

Moving over to convenience features, there's the fresh air intake and air ioniser, a first aid kit, illuminated treadplates, parking heater with remote control, and remote control garage door. You can also choose between a Bang & Olufsen or Naim audio system, digital TV tuner, and inductive phone charger. Finally, there's the new Diamond Knurling package, Front Seat Comfort specification, and a bespoke four-piece luggage set.
