Back in May 2022 we reported about this cool dad who built his son a ‘drivable’ wooden replica of the Lamborghini Vision GT. Now the guy is back with something even cooler: his son will get to "drive" a toy model of the Mercedes-Benz Vision AVTR - a concept car inspired by the Avatar movie. Now that's a cool birthday present!

Hand-Built Mercedes-Vision Concept

Building this cool little toy was not an easy task. The entire process took 100 days, but the result is simply impressive. The wooden car is built on an aluminum chassis and features real suspension with front shocks and 14-inch wheels. After the structure is set in place, he starts adding the wooden pieces. It turns out that the guy is an expert when it comes to using the chainsaw. He paid attention to every single element of the car, so that the result looks just like the real deal. In fact, his car even features those 33 discrete scales, so called "bionic flaps" that in the real concept are used to communicate with people outside the car.

He even recreated the concept's lighting system: the wooden replica has a lot of LEDs inside and out, and even features those cool LED wheel covers we loved so much on the concept. The last touches are a very cool exterior finish, automatically opening doors, a small windscreen, and a functional powertrain. Of course, it is not the same one featured in the real deal, but it will make the little one very happy.

The Real Mercedes AVTR Concept

The AVTR concept is powered by four high-performance electric motors mounted near each wheel. This system delivers a combined 476 horsepower and makes the concept very fast. The concept also features a revolutionary battery technology with graphene-based organic cells that are completely free of rare metals. It can be charged up in less than 15 minutes and promises a range of at least 435 miles.

The Vision AVTR's organic design is really cool and pays a great tribute to the early teardrop automotive designs. However, the chances to see it put into production are very limited. So, cool replicas like this are our only chance to ever see this put into production. Too bad only one little kit will get to enjoy it! But then again, it seems that the toy is big enough to accommodate an adult, so you never know, we might ask the guy for a test drive!
