It’s no secret that Fred Williams, host of ‘Dirt Every Day,’ is a big sucker for military surplus vehicles. His last project included swapping a supercharged, 6.2-liter LSA V-8 into a Chevrolet K3500 CUCV truck in the Alabama Army Truck series. Now Fred is at it again, driving a 1995 LMTV, or Light Medium Tactical Vehicle, built by Stewart & Stevenson.

The beastly truck comes with a torquey diesel engine, an Allison automatic transmission, twin solid axles, leaf springs, massive Goodyear tires, a central tire inflation system, and enough room in the bed to haul a squadron of soldiers. Needless to say, the truck is pretty awesome.

Perhaps the truck’s best feature is that it’s for sale. Listed with Govplanet.com, the LMTV will soon be auctioned off to the highest bidder. It’s only one of thousands of military surplus vehicles and rolling equipment listed on the auction site. Fancy taking Fred’s truck home? It’s up for grabs come June 24,2015.

Of course, ‘Dirt Every Day’ wouldn’t be complete without come off-roading.->ke4846 Fred takes the LMTV up some gnarly, rock-strewn trails in the deserts of Utah for a little fun. The thick lugs on the Goodyear tires bit hard into the loose rock with both axles pulling the truck up steep hills. It’s only when the truck’s (still impressive) approach angle is maxed out on a rock formation that Fred backs down from the challenging trail.

Oh, and in case you were wondering, yes – the LMTV does fit through the drive-through at the local coffee shop.
