Chrysler is going to build the production version of the Dodge Challenger coupe that debuted as concept car in January at the Detroit auto show.

The Challenger concept is powered by a 425-horsepower V8 engine. The production version will be build off the same basic chassis as its rear-drive Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger.

The new Challenger will go on production starting 2008, with a price slightly above that of the current mustang. Only a V8 will be offered.
