When Dodge->ke28 unveiled the new Dart GT, a lot of Dodge enthusiasts were pretty disappointed because they were waiting for the long-rumored R/T variant. Since the GT’s release, Dodge has made it quite clear that it is not a replacement for the R/T and that such a model will still be offered in a near future.

This decision to offer the GT was made because Dodge hopes to boost its sales with the new Dart->ke4128 and more variants of the car will help it head in this direction. According to Dodge officials, the new GT version will attract more males to the compact market, which, of course, translates into improved sales.

As for the “R/T” badge, SRT President and CEO Ralph Gilles announced it sitting on ice waiting for something "more aggressive, more special." Still, you shouldn't expect something similar to the Charger R/T and Challenger R/T because those two models have set the bar pretty high. Rather, the upcoming Dart R/T will just try to "go back to where that name really means something."

Until the R/T version arrives on the market, Dart will continue to improve but Dodge is not "going to pursue a high-performance model," because sales is everything they care about right now. Following the R/T’s announcement, we will then start hounding Dodge for an SRT variant.
