Before Congress made it rain cash, it wanted a plan for fuel efficient cars from the Big Three. Maybe this is why Chrysler was out testing one of the three electric prototypes reveled in September. The car in the grainy spy shot above is the coolest of the trio, the Dodge EV.

The EV is just a thinly rebadged Lotus Europa with a battery pack and a few Dodge styling elements. We like Lotus' cars, so we should not have too much trouble liking the EV when it arrives in 2010 (even it it wears a Dodge name.)

The Dodge EV is a plug-in electric car that is powered by a 200-kilowatt electric motor that drives the rear wheels. The engine is rated at 268 hp and 480 lb-ft of torque. Chrysler says the EV should make 0 to 60 mph sprint in 4.7 seconds, and it could have a range of about 150 to 200 miles on a full charge.
