Donkmaster’s 2,500-Horsepower Impala On 26-inch Wheels Takes Down The Model S Plaid

Not only did the big-wheeled Donk get to the 1/4 mile first, but it also had the quicker ET

Dragtimes and Brooks Weisblat are back with yet another insane face-off. But this time, he’s not racing his own Model S Plaid. Instead, his buddies from the Texas Racing Channel, brought along their Plaid and it went up against a really souped-up Chevy Impala.

This is the Donkmasters a.k.a Thomas’ 1971 Chevy Impala that is stirring on 26" rims

The first contender for today is DonkMaster’s a.k.a Thomas’ big-wheeled Chevy Impala convertible sitting on whopping 26" rims on street tires. The man owns In & Out Customs, based in South Carolina. Under the hood of this bling mobile is a Turbo LS7 with Nitrous that puts out a whopping 2500 horsepower.

To give you some context, the OG Impala with its 350ci V-8 put out just over 165 ponies, back in the day. It sends power to the rear wheels via an FTI transmission. Now while 2,500 horses is an insane amount of power, it sure does justify it for something that doesn’t have the best drag coefficient.

But the Impala managed to reel in the Plaid

The Tesla Model S Plaid is now becoming a common sight. The specs too are familiar now. Three motors and 1020 horsepower, going to all four wheels. The one you see here is sitting on Michelin Pilot Sport S 4S tires. The Plaid’s achievement’s so far really can’t be summed up in a paragraph. It has been tearing up drag strips across the country ever since its debut in June last year.

The Warm Up

In a warm-up round against what looked like a pretty serious truck, the Donk punched a stonking 1/4 mile time of 9.34 seconds

Before it went up against the Plaid, the Donk first took out what looked like a pretty serious truck, coming in with a blisteringly quick 1/4 mile time of just 9.35 seconds. That looked pretty easy and gave us an idea of what was to come.

The Main Event

From a dig, the Tesla got the better launch, and to make things worse the Chevy, it had traction issues early, losing control

It was then Plaid time. The Donk pulled off some pretty epic burnouts. Round one saw the Donk in the right lane and the Plaid in the left. From a dig, the Plaid was quicker off the line. Watching the Donk launch though was pretty epic, however, it lost control which meant it was a gentle cruise to the line from there. Since the Plaid ran it lit, the Donk still took the first round.

And took the win in a pretty dramatic fashion.

Lining up against the Plaid for another round, the Donk finally came back hard. Off the bat, the Tesla was quicker again, but the Chevy came back pretty hard by the time the two cars got to the finish line. With a 1/4 mile time of 9.294 seconds at 157.5 mph not only was the Donk quicker to the finish line, but it also had the quicker ET.

Swipe up to catch this dramatic drag race.

Yes, the Plaid is the sleeper here and the better family car. But, you just can’t ignore the big-wheeled Chevy, especially if you like chrome and old-school muscle. The Tesla does things in a very cynical way, while the Chevy, it’s loud, it’s outrageous, pretty dramatic, and a sight to behold at full chat.
