There is no dearth of electric hypercars on the market these days, but we have another new entrant. What makes this one special is that it's the first electric hypercar to be built in the States. Northern California-based Elation Hypercars has come up with its first electric hypercar called the Freedom. This handmade EV will make 1,414 horses in the base form and over 1,900 horses in the optional top-spec. Oh, and the price? Well, it starts at $2 million. Any takers?

What’s Special About The Elation Freedom?

The Elation Freedom is based on an ultralight carbon fiber monocoque chassis. It features a one-speed gearbox on the axle and a two-speed gearbox in the rear. Torque vectoring can control the amount of torque to each wheel on demand. Thanks to the carbon fiber chassis, Elation aims for this beast to weigh under 3,700 pounds despite having a tri-motor setup.

The electric motors are powered by a 100 kWh battery pack. If you’re wondering about its range, the automaker says it can deliver up to 300 miles with the standard battery pack and 400 miles with the optional 120 kWh battery pack. This, of course, is when driven sedately. The suspension system on the Freedom is a double-wishbone setup that’s designed and produced in-house by Elation.

Being a new EV automaker, Elation teamed up with Cascadia Motion to develop the electric drive system. The latter has experience of over four decades in electric motor technology and has even developed motors for Formula E. Elation Hypercars has also stated that the Freedom is based on the rich racing pedigree of Argentinian motorsports and has employed folks who’ve worked with Formula 1, 24 Hours of Le Mans, and the Argentinian racing industry.

The company is also offering the hypercar with a standard internal combustion engine, if electric vehicles are not your thing.Power will be sent to all the wheels via a seven-speed, dual-clutch S-Tronic transmission. Elation hasn’t revealed the power outputs of this one yet. If you wish to own this beauty, keep $2.3 million aside.
