I wonder if this Cyberbike will look as weird as the Cybertruck?!

If you watched the Tesla Cybertruck’s launch then you remember that the ATV brought onto the stage at the end of the unveil received a rousing round of applause. The ATV was much talked about even later on and people just couldn’t get over that beautiful beast. Luckily, Musk finally confirmed that it will be available as an option with the Cybertruck. But now Tesla’s main man says that we might get a Tesla-made two-wheeler as well! And while he’s not considering a motorbike, an electric dirt bike is a possibility.

Why Won’t Elon Musk Make a Road-Legal Tesla Cyberbike

Musk has been very vocal about electrification in every vehicle category. However, he is averse to the idea of an electric motorbike.

Musk turned down the idea of a road-legal electric motorbike completely because he considers them to be dangerous.

He also said that he almost got killed on one in his teens. Musk recently tweeted that “we [Tesla] will aim to have it come out same time as truck. Two seater electric ATV designed to work with Cybertruck will be fun! Electric dirt bikes would be cool too. We won’t do road bikes, as too dangerous. I was hit by a truck & almost died on one when I was 17.”

Even though there is a demand for motorbikes and such a product could very well become an important part of Tesla’s lineup, Musk is not in favor of making one. If you think about it, he is right about the fact that they are dangerous. As all the torque is available instantly, you will spot electric motorbikes zip the streets even if their top speed is limited to, say, under 80 mph.

A Tesla Cyberbike Could Still Happen in the Form of an Electric Dirt Bike

On the other hand, Musk is open to building an electric dirt bike.

To think of it, even if Tesla doesn’t sell it as a mainstream product, a Cyberbike could sell very well as an option with the Cybertruck.

Trucks and dirt bikes are not a new combination anyway. Earlier this year, we saw Jeep come out with a Gladiator-based Flatbill concept at the Easter Jeep Safari that revolved around the theme of motocross lifestyle. So, Tesla could also work on something on those lines to further make the Cybertruck an overlanding vehicle. Not to mention that Tesla already has a ramp integrated into the truck’s tailgate, thus making life easier for itself, as well as for future owners.

A Cyberbike Would Complement the Cyberquad Well

The fancy ATV that was used as a prop to showcase the truck’s tailgate-ramp function and the space the bed offers garnered a lot of attention. Musk replied to a tweet saying “Tesla 2 person electric ATV will come at first as an option for Cybertruck.” It looks like a true companion to the truck and we are glad the ATV will be offered. The ATV can be charged from the bed of the truck itself from an area that the company calls the “vault”. In fact, it received a great pop at the Cybertruck reveal, and unlike the truck, this looks a lot more traditional and something that will gel well with the current crop of ATVs. Tesla hasn’t revealed any details about it yet, but given how the company operates, this could be one hell of a performer.

The electric dirt bike and the ATV could together pave Tesla’s way into the ‘outdoor fun’ market segment, thus taking on Rivian head-on. Do you think Rivian will come up with an answer (read: a dirt bike) of its own?
