The FuelTech C8 Corvette dethrones Emilia Hartford’s C8. It boasts more Power and a quicker Quarter-mile Timeby Dim Angelov, on LISTEN 02:32
The Chevrolet Corvette C8 is one of the most desired sports cars on sale today. So much so that GM is having difficulties keeping up with demand. The C8 is the first mid-engine Corvette to make it to production and, even before the arrival of any performance versions, the new platform has already proven to be very capable. Speaking of performance, ever since YouTuber Emilia Hartford built her own twin-turbo C8 “Vette” – the most powerful one in the world – we knew the race was on. And now, someone else has built an even more powerful one.
The car in question has been developed by FuelTech and is actually the company’s project vehicle for racing purposes. As you might have guessed, FuelTech founder and CEO, Anderson Dick, has set out to unlock the C8’s full potential, or at least some of it, since the C8 Corvette ECU still hasn’t been cracked.
Just to put things in perspective, Emilia Hartford’s “orange beast” currently makes 1,400 horsepower at the crankshaft, which is 1,201 wheel-horsepower, according to the dyno. With this setup, she managed to run a 9.418-second quarter-mile time at 144.84 mph (233 km/h). That said, the guys at FuelTech managed to do what many thought was impossible and improve upon the benchmark set by Emilia and her C8.
The torch red Chevrolet Corvette C8 managed to put down 1,350 rear-wheel-horsepower – almost 250 wheel-horsepower more than Emilia’s C8 Corvette.
But power output isn’t the only thing the FuelTech C8 Corvette managed to beat. The Anderson Dick himself took the mid-engine Corvette to the drag strip and put down a new quarter-mile record – 9.017 seconds at 153.3 mph (246.7 km/h). Even more impressive is that the people at FuelTech managed to achieve all that in just a week.
Competition is already quite heated between different tuners and once the ECU has been cracked, the 6.2-liter LT2 V-8 engine will be much more tuner-friendly. But for now, FuelTech are the record-holders for both the most powerful and fastest Chevrolet C8 Corvette in the world. Your move Emilia. We know the “orange beast” can dish out more damage.
