Holding the most powerful pickup truck medal, the Hennessey Mammoth 1000 TRX is insanely quick. If you are a braveheart, the Mammoth 1000 could reach 60 mph in 3.2 seconds, which is insanely fast for a truck and makes it equivalent to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT. Of course, high-performance trucks and SUVs are getting better by the day, and tuners like John Hennessey make things a little more overwhelming. However, to battle the Mammoth, folks at Carwow have brought a Jeep Trackhawk to see wins the standing quarter-mile.

1,026 HP Hennessey-tuned RAM meets Jeep’s most powerful SUV

At least on paper, the most potent contender would be the Hennessey Mammoth 1000 TRX. Underneath heavily customized exterior bodywork is a RAM 1500 TRX with the same 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V-8 found in the Challenger and Charger. A high-flow 2.65-liter supercharger, upgraded fuel injectors, high-flow induction system, and performance ECU can make the same V-8 crank out an astonishing 1,026 horsepower. In addition, a massive 969 pound-feet of twist is delivered to all four wheels, and the gearbox is the same eight-speed torque-converter automatic. Unfortunately, while power figures seem to deceive, the curb weight is a hard slap of reality. The Mammoth weighs a whopping 7,054 pounds, about 658 pounds heavier than the truck it is based on.

On the other side of the drag strip stands a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk, a vehicle that's bonkers quick for a full-fat SUV. Under the hood, the Trackhawk packs the same 6.2-liter supercharged V-8 as the Mammoth, but it does not put out 1,000 horsepower. Instead, it belts out 707 horsepower and 645 pound-feet of torque through all four wheels via an eight-speed gearbox similar to the Mammoth. We expected the Trackhawk to have some performance enhancements, but it has a weight advantage over the Hennessey-tuned beast. The former weighs about 5,291 pounds, which makes it close to 2,000 pounds lighter than the Mammoth. If you didn’t know, the Trackhawk performs similarly to the Lamborghini Urus, but is it enough to obliterate the Hennessey Mammoth?

Who do you think will win the drag race?

It is easy to make assumptions based on the spec sheet, but the Trackhawk has a clear advantage of winning over the Mammoth. The former is lightweight compared to the performance truck and is more aerodynamic. But there are various levels of testing in Carwow drag races, and I'm confident that the Mammoth will perform better in one or two of them. Moreover, given that the Mammoth is much more powerful than the Trackhawk, you will be shocked by how closely they perform.
