It’s full of toy cars photographed the right way

LISTEN 02:36

Instagram has become a platform that caters to everyone’s whims and fantasies. It’s a place where you can be anybody you want, provided you have a good camera and a good narrative to spin. Beyond that, Instagram is also a place where you can find quality spaces that you can go to and appreciate those accounts for what they are. Take Maisto’s official Instagram account, for example. You won’t find any facetious photos, troll posts, or scam-level products.

Instead, you’ll find photos of the company’s scale toy cars, photographed in ways that are detailed, creative, and downright stunning. From exotic supercars like the Ford GT to motorbikes like the BMW R nine T Scrambler, the photos in Maisto’s official Instagram account is full of some of the most incredible photos of toymaker’s products as taken by photographers and collectors who love their Maistos.

Some photos are set up in what looks to be makeshift studios with clean white and/or backgrounds. Other photos are taken in different locations, adding layers upon layers of realism to the toy cars that already look real, to begin with.

We browsed through a lot of the photos in Maisto’s official Instagram account and found a few stellar ones that resonate differently, especially if you’re a toy car collector like a lot of us here on TopSpeed. There’s one photo of a 1:18 scale Lamborghini Centenario that was taken with a dark and angry sky acting as a backdrop. Some editing was probably done to make the photo pop out even more, but the result is an outstanding picture that captures the ferocity of the Centenario.

There’s another photo of a 1:18 scale Ford GT in the foreground with a beautifully lit bridge in the background. “Stunning” doesn’t do justice to this photo. Arguably my favorite photo, though, is that of a Volkswagen Beetle carrying a Christmas tree while driving through a blanket of snow.

Can I get into Maisto’s official Instagram page?

We can imagine that if you take a quality photograph of your Maisto toy cars and submit it to the toymaker, your photo could end up on its Instagram account. If you’re up for the challenge of getting your photo posted by Maisto, by all means, make one that’s worthy of being in the company of all these great images that are already in the account. It’s a nice way to spend an afternoon. As for the rest of us who don’t have the eye for taking great photos, going to Maisto’s Instagram account and seeing all these great photos is good enough for us.

Kirby’s first exposure into the world of automobiles happened when he caught Knight Rider on television as a five-year old boy. David Hasselhoff didn’t leave much of an impression on him (that happened later on in Baywatch), but KITT certainly did. To this day, Kirby remains convinced that he will one day own a car with the same ‘spirit’ as the original KITT (not the 2008 monstrosity). He doesn't know when that will be, but until then, he’s committed to expressing his love for KITT, and all cars for that matter, here at TopSpeed.  Read More
