It seems a lot of people love watching car crashes on YouTube, especially when they are from racetracks. With this in mind, one YouTube channel has definitely found its niche. The channel Auto Addiction frequently uploads videos from the most challenging racetracks in the world – the Nurburgring.

If you are a motoring enthusiast, you’ve probably heard of it, as well as its different nicknames, like “The Green Hell” or “The Graveyard”, the latter coming from the 1960s and 1970s era of Formula 1 racing. The track is challenging enough when it's dry, but it’s a different story when it’s wet. And when it's pouring down like there’s no tomorrow, it’s an even more grueling experience, as even professional race-prepped vehicles struggle to maintain traction.

But why is this the case? You would think that the surface would be top quality.

In addition to being one of the main venues for the FIA Endurance series, most manufacturers have testing facilities there. And make no mistake, they run rigorous tests all the time. In addition, you have the “Touristenfahren”, which is when you take your own car (or rent one), buy a ticket and blast down “the Ring”.

As a result, the surface is highly polished, which makes some of the cars feel like they are on a knife’s edge. Add rain to the equation and you get some spectacular pirouettes and crashes. Feast your eyes on nearly 12 minutes of driving (surviving) on a wet Nurburgring.
