Fabia- second act
It seams that Skoda will launch the second generation of Fabia. The old model will be replaced in the beginning of 2007,at the Geneve Auto Show.
The face will have the lines of the Roomster, and will share the technical platform from the next VW Polo, and Seat Ibiza.
The spy-shots are from the streets of Mlada Bolesav, near the Skoda factory, were the car is tested.
Fabia 2 will have a 3 door version different from the 5 door car, folowing the tendency started by Peugeot with 207.The pictures show us a obvious similarity with the Suzuki Swift.
The old Fabia was launched in 2000 with an array of engines, body styles and trims. The Fabia is available in 5-door hatchback, 5-door estate and 4-door saloon models. The hatchback most closely resembles Volkswagen’s own Polo, and is by far the most popular model. The estate has proved rather popular in its own right, despite estates based on smaller cars not being globally popular. The saloon variant is a classic three-compartment sedan with a protruding boot. The saloon is much less popular than the other two body styles, especially in some markets where saloon cars are not popular, such as the UK. The range starts with the 1.2 6v Classic (which is cheaper than Volkwagen’s smaller 3-door 1.0 Lupo) to the 1.9 PD TDi vRS.
Part of the Fabia’s success is the fact that all of its mechanical parts are developed by or in conjunction with Volkswagen, but are offered in a package that is priced to undercut other models in the Volkswagen Group.
