A test mule for the BMW 1-Series Convertible was spotted and captured by those wonderful camera-wielding spies we love so much. The new vehicle features the same styling revisions seen on the Coupe model, meaning the Convertible receives the updated LED technology, revised front bumpers, and restyled air intakes. New exterior colors, wheel options, and interior trims are the newest addition to the popularBMW. Expect a redesigned M-Sport kit that will also be offered as a separate option pretty soon. Inside, the changes are minimal, mostly centering around new trim options.

The only major upgrade comes from the technology area. The new ConnectedDrive system will be featured in the facelifted model. We expect the drivetrain options to remain largely unchanged for the majority of the lineup. The King of the 1 Series family will be the new 1 Series M Coupe which makes its world debut at the Detroit Motor Show in January 2011.

The SAAB tops out at 250hp, handles well, but not BMW-well, and has cheap-as-hell interior plastics and the cachet isn’t up to par.
