In Episode 9 of Rendered with Kyza, the Nissan 400 Z went under the knife, albeit digitally in this case to be transformed into a very different kind of beast altogether. And, what does he mash it up with? The timeless Datsun 240Z G-Nose!

Overview

Now, it could go either way with this one because for some people out there, the 400Z represents perfection. However, according to the guys at Hagerty, the whole point of this series is to explore the possibilities of ‘What if’, and hence, here we are.

Before he begins, Khyzl Saleem acknowledges that Nissan has already done a great job with the 400Z, by creating a form that is already pretty recognizable, i.e a modern interpretation of the iconic Datsun 240Z.

To Khyzl’s eyes, the G Nose 240 Z is perfection, aggressive, yet simple, and not over the top. It was this car that inspired him to have a go at the 400Z. If you recall, the OG 240Z was Nissan’s answer to the gorgeous Toyota 2000 GT, one of the best-looking Japanese sports cars of all time, in my opinion.

The Transformation

He kicks things off by downloading the 3D render files of the stock Nissan 400 Z. He then fires up his browser to look at pictures of 240 Z’s that are rocking a G-Nose to get his bearings right, picking up subtle design elements which Khyzl then manages to piece-by-piece add to the 400 Z.

The stock car’s front bumper was pulled apart and extended. Next came the flared-out wheels and fenders. The front fenders were then merged to the front bumper to create a fairly seamless look.

The same treatment was also done at the rear. The ducktail spoiler along with a modified rear bumper completes the tail end of the car. After subtle tweaks to the front bumper and the lights, and the addition of the completely pointless hood vents, the results are in.

The End Result

Overall, I think this particular render has turned out rather well, perhaps it would have looked a little more exciting in a bolder color rather than this flat grey. But hey, that's just me.

The 240 Z with the G Nose really has its place in the history books, but body kits for the upcoming Z will surely be a thing and this render by Khyzl just scratches the surface of what’s possible.
