Ferrari Goes for $4,950,000 at Monterey
This past weekend’s Montery action operated by RM Auctions brought sales of 195 cars totaling $46 million dollars in price.
The highest price - $4,950,000 – was paid for the 1959 Ferrari GT long wheel base Spyder pictured.
Other large dollar cars were a 1935 Duesenberg SJ Town Cabriolet with body by Bohman & Schwartz, originally owned by Ethel Mars, heiress to the Mars candy fortune, which went for $4.4 million, a 1933 Delage D8S Coupe Roadster for $3,740,000, and a 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special, bringing $2,530,000. The other car to break the million mark was a 1959 Aston-Martin DB4 GT at $1,660,000.
