Well, at least we’ll still see something new, right?

In mid-April, we reported that Ferrari’s year of consolidation was likely to be more consolidating than expected with the two new models expected for 2020 potential delayed until 2021. This news was followed as the calendar switched to May with GMC delaying the new Hummer EV and Ford delaying delivers for the Mustang Mach-E. Fortunately, for Ferrari, the speculation about its consolidation wasn’t entirely true. A new report coming from Automotive News Europe says that the Italian automaker will, in fact, launch two new vehicles this year, but they will be delayed by three or four months.

According to Ferrari CEO, Louis Camilleri, Ferrari looked at its bottom line, and in an effort to reduce costs and expenditures for 2020, some models were delayed. In essence, the company believes that it could delay some while have others arrive “on time.”

Apparently, Ferrari is expecting a four to 15-percent drop in sales over 2019, but it will still launch four of the five models it revealed in 2019. As you probably already know, the F8 Tributo has started making its rounds through the world, while customers are forced to wait for the second half of 2020 for any of the other 2019 reveals to find their new homes.

As we previously reported, Ferrari still had intents to launch two new models by the end of 2020, and it looks like the company is planning to do exactly that. But, as expected, those models have been delayed. As of now, we don’t know exactly when these new models will surface or what they are. The Purosangue isn’t expected until 2021, so it’s not likely that we’ll see that this year.

In a previous interview, Ferrari’s Enrico Galliera said that the company was looking to expand into new markets. “We’ll keep looking at new, untapped markets...we don’t stop looking for opportunities to grow as a company and business.”

”Potentially every segment is of interest to us, with the caveat that Ferrari is in the luxury sports car market. We can enter every market in which we can deliver a car that meets our position as a luxury car firm. We have certain limitations connected to the [sportiness] of the car: Ferrari is a sports car manufacturer.”

The new models that we’ll see this year will fall into this category. The Purosangue is out, a LaFerrari successor isn’t due until after Ferrari’s SUV, and a revival of the Dino name as an entry-level model isn’t even on the agenda anymore. The most likely model that we’ll see this year is the SF90 Stradale Spider, but the second model is still a huge mystery. With these models delayed by three or four months, it looks like we’ll have to wait until fall of 2020 to find out.
