Two of Dodge’s most impressive performance machines are on their way out the door, but before they go, the brand put them on the block for one last hurrah. This past Saturday, at the Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, Dodge auctioned off the final 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and 2017 Dodge Viper in a single lot, and when it was all said and done, one eager collector took them home for a cool million bucks.

The Full Story

We hate to see impressive machines like the Dodge Demon and Dodge Viper bite the dust, and we’re certainly not alone, as evidenced by the rather lofty bid placed on the final two examples seen here. Dubbed “The Ultimate Last Chance” auction, the lot not only included a pair of high-speed beasts, but also a slew of memorabilia, such as certification cards, authenticity letters, iPads loaded with videos and photos, and more.

The final seven-figure bid was the highest of all bids placed during the entire four-day auction event. All proceeds went to benefit the United Way charity organization.

“These particular vehicles mark the end of their eras as the last vehicles of their kind to be built; it’s rare to have just one such vehicle cross the auction block, much less a pair at the same time,” said FCA North America’s Head of Passenger Car Brands, Steve Beahm.

Both vehicles were delivered in a searing shade of Viper Red paint, with the Demon hand-painted to match its venomous counterpart.

Inside, the Viper gets a black interior, with Alcantara seating and a unique VIN instrument panel badge. The exterior gets complementary carbon fiber accents.

As a reminder, the Demon makes as much as 840 horsepower thanks to a supercharged 6.2-liter V-8, laying it all down via street-legal drag radials and setting a host of performance records along the way, including a 9.65-second quarter mile at 140 mph and the title of first-ever production car capable of a front-wheel lift.

Meanwhile, the final fifth-generation Viper makes 645 horsepower via an 8.4-liter V-10, routing it all to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. Sixty mph arrives in a scant 3.5 seconds.
