Chevrolet begins the 2011 model year Corvette->ke1280 with a special edition that pays tribute to the Briggs Cunningham Corvette. This is the Corvette who won the Le Mans in 1960. This special Corvette will be distinguished by an Arctic White exterior color with twin stripes slicing through the hood, roof and trunk. The #3 and a special graphic on the B-pillar features a 50th Anniversary logo with the time span of 1960-2010 emblazened on the side of the vehicle.

The 2011 Corvette Z06 special edition will be offered with both a Z07 performance package and a CFZ black carbon fiber package. A unique feature will be the side view mirrors painted in Cyber Gray instead of the Black that comes on the Carbon edition.

The National Corvette Museum's Director Wendell Strode said the special edition Corvette will not be sold at a traditional raffle or no reserve auction. The NCM is asking for a $300,000 donation to the museum and then a pay out of about $85,000 which is about what the museum paid for the car. Considering the first 2011 Corvette Z06 Carbon Edition sold for $297,000 at Barrett-Jackson, the price of this special car is not that insane. A collector and racing fan would probably call it a pretty fair price.
