The Shelby GT500KR was launched in December 2021 to honor Shelby American’s 60th anniversary. Based on the Mustang GT500, the new GT500KR is really worthy of its name: ‘King of the Road!’ It delivers an impressive 900 horsepower and features a carbon-fiber hood, custom wheels, tires, suspension tuning, interior, and anniversary badges.

Of course, it will be built in very limited numbers: 225 units, 60 kits each for 2020, 2021, and 2022 model years in the U.S., and 45 in total outside the States. The car kit is also not very cheap: $54,995, not including the $72,900 price of a Mustang GT500. Now, the first production 2022 Shelby GT500KR will be auctioned by Barret Jackson on January 28, 2022 with 100% of the proceeds benefitting the Carroll Shelby Foundation and JDRF.

Under the hood the GT500KR is using the same 5.2-liter, Predator V-8 engine as the GT500, but equipped with a massive 3.8-liter, twin-screw Whipple supercharger. This change combined with a cold air intake, an upgraded exhaust system, a larger throttle body, and a few other performance updates took the final output up to a total of 900 horsepower.

The model will also be equipped with a carbon-fiber hood, 20-inch, one-piece forged aluminum wheels wrapped in performance-spec tires, updated suspension, leather seats on the interior, and of course the obligatory rocker stripes and badges.

Of course the car is not produced yet, so the winning bidder will be able to choose from any standard Ford color available on the Shelby GT500KR.
