Henrik Fisker’s back in the news and fortunately, we’re not hear to talk about buy-outs or insolvency or whatever scrap of bad news his namesake company seemed to generate on a consistent basis in 2013. Instead, we’re here to talk about Henrik Fisker’s ->ke1074 involvement at the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show.->ke211 Yep. Fisker’s making a comeback at a major auto show, only this time, he’s bringing Galpin Auto Sports with him. Strange as it sounds, but Fisker and Galpin Auto Sports are collaborating on a fully-customized vehicle, a model Autoblog has learned is referred to as the “Ultimate American Muscle Car.->ke507”

Quite frankly, I don’t know what that really means, although it does appear that this collaboration involves Fisker, the man and not the brand that's about to be revived by Chinese auto-parts company Wanxiang. He may have fallen flat as a business executive, but Henrik Fisker’s design chops made him a titan in the business. Remember, he was the one largely responsible for designing the BMW Z8,->ke1697 the Aston Martin DB9,->ke210 the Aston Martin Vantage,->ke4410 and of course, the Fisker Karma.->ke3016

Give the man some pencils and a sketch pad, and he can create magic. Combine that with Galpin Auto Sports’ well-chronicled expertise in aftermarket customization and you have a team that could be working on an explosive muscle car with the performance to back its “Ultimate American Muscle Car” claim.

Personally, I’m preparing myself for just about anything with this mysterious project.

Details are obviously limited at this point, but rest assured, the hype train will only gain steam once we draw closer to the 2014 Los Angeles Auto Show, which opens on November 18, 2014 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

Why it matters

First of all, it's important to remember that Henrik Fisker is no longer associated with the company he started. He resigned in March 2013 so this collaboration with Galpin Auto Sports isn't tied to the electric automaker.

To be honest, it works better this way because Fisker has free reign to design a car that way he sees fit, opening up a world of possibilities as to what the "Ultimate American Muscle Car" is going to look like.

Galpin Auto Sports' involvement is also crucial because the California-based aftermarket company has made a reputation as an out-of-the-box thinker in its own right. Remember the Hyundai Veloster Zombie Survival Machine that we all saw back in July 2013? How about the 708-horesepower Ford Mustang 'Boss 302-X' that made its debut at the 2011 SEMA Auto Show?

If Galpin Auto Sports can create those programs from stock models like the Veloster and the Mustang, can you imagine what kind of bat crazy engine setup it'll have for this project?

I don't want to get my hopes up, even though it's next to impossible not to. I just hope the final product does justice to the incredible hype the "Ultimate American Muscle Car" is beginning to receive.
