Mercedes-Benz just unveiled European pricing information for the hot and new AMG GT Black Series and boy, oh boy, it's expensive! The German sports coupe comes in at an eye-watering €335,715 in Germany, which is notably more than some exotic supercars from Ferrari and McLaren.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is the most expensive Merc available
The AMG GT R, for instance, comes in at less than €200,000, so you're basically paying the cost of an entry-level AMG GT and an AMG GT R for the Black Series. Also, no other model from Mercedes' current lineup, not even the Mercedes-AMG S63 or the Mercedes-Maybach S650, exceeds €200,000 before options.
The Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is notably more expensive than the McLaren 720S
The cool thing about the non-Black Series AMG GT is that it offers solid performance for a decent amount of money. The GT R is a bit more expensive than the rest, but it didn't go into Ferrari or McLaren territory. The Black Series, on the other hand, trumps supercars like the McLaren 720S or Ferrari F8 Tributo in terms of pricing, and this may become an issue for Mercedes-Benz.
The McLaren 720S, for instance, starts from €273,000 in Germany. This means that the AMG GT Black Series comes with a massive €60,000 premium. And not just any daily driver, as €60,000 will allow you to take home a premium vehicle. Let's say a well-equipped Mercedes-Benz E-Class. Granted, a 720S will become a bit more expensive with a few options, but you'll still have enough for a decent daily driver priced around €30,000.
Now I'm not saying that the Black Series is a poor car for the price. At 720 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque, it's actually a tad more powerful than the McLaren 720S. It's also fitted with race-spec technology, loads of carbon-fiber, and that big wing that'll make it fast on the race track. I'm only saying that for more than €300,000 you can buy a more exotic supercar.

How much will it cost in the United States?
There's no info on that right now, but the Black Series will probably cross the pond with a sticker that will exceed $300,000. As of July 2020, the R Coupe is the most expensive version of the Mercedes-AMG GT at $162,900 before options.
