Ford has launched the third-gen Everest. It is based on the new Ranger and comes with a lot of improvements on the inside, outside, and under the skin. The mid-size three-row SUV isn’t sold in the States, but it is quite popular in other countries. The latest Everest comes with a lot of new features and specs, thus making it an even-better proposition in the ever-growing segment.

What’s Special About The New Ford Everest?

The new Everest will be offered in three trims – Sport, Titanium, and Platinum. It is based on the 2022 Ranger and looks very similar to it. The front fascia, especially, seems like a straight lift from the Ranger. You get Matrix LED headlights here. In the top Platinum trim, it will come equipped with 21-inch wheels. At the rear, you get a sweet taillight setup with a bar in the middle connecting them. This, along with the redesigned bumper makes sure the Everest doesn’t look too boring or plain-Jane.

Ford noted that the roof has been reinforced and can now hold up to 220 pounds of dynamic loads and up to 772 pounds of static loads. The Everest can also dip itself in water up to 31.5 inches safely. The towing capacity is rated at 7,716 pounds.

On the inside, the new Everest comes with a 10.1-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen powered by the SYNC4 infotainment system. The higher trims benefit from a 12-inch touchscreen. The digital instrument cluster is standard across trims, but varies in size. The lower trims feature an eight-inch screen whereas the higher trims come with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster.

It will be offered with both the flavors of engines. There are two oil burners on offer, both replacing the 3.2-liter, five-cylinder turbo diesel. One is a 3.0-liter, turbocharged V-6, and the other is a 2.0-liter, four-pot engine that comes with one- or twin turbos depending on the trim you choose. Power outputs aren't announced for any of them yet.

If you want one that’s on a gas diet, then you’ll have to wait until next year when Ford will introduce the 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine. As for the transmission, you’ll have an option to choose between a six-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic.

There’s no word on the pricing yet, but we should hear more about it when it arrives later this year.
