Ford says U.S. dealers waiting for their first crossover Edge sport utility vehicles will get them next week. Lincoln Mercury dealers waiting for the counterpart luxury MKX crossovers will have to wait longer, the Detroit news reports.

The automaker has had quality problems with rear-axel ball bearings that prompted a last-minute redesign of that component the newspaper said.

The vehicles that already had rolled off the assembly line in Oakville, Ontario, had to go back to have the rear axel replaced. As a result, some customers who had pre-ordered their vehicles did not receive them on time.
