For the 37th year running, the Ford F-Series->ke1913 has remained the country's best-selling truck. The Detroit based car maker sold 763,402 units of the F-Series during the year 2013. Ford F-150 SVT Raptor

If there's anything like a "sports truck," then this is it. The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor offers you the best of both worlds when it comes to utility, dependability and performance. The recipe was simple. Take an off-the-shelf F-150 and plonk a 6.2-liter, V-8 engine under its hood, then add a long-travel suspension and a few other tweaks later, the result is a "sports truck".

The Ford F-150 SVT Raptor was launched in 2010 with a 5.4-liter V-8 that was then replaced with the larger capacity 6.2-liter V-8 that pumps out 411 horsepower and 434 pound-feet of torque. An electronic automatic transmission with six speeds was charged with the responsibility of managing the power.

The Raptor uses a torsen type limited-slip differential that makes it handy while sliding over muddy roads. The suspension on this model has been beefed up with long-travel shocks. These FOX-sourced shocks offer 11.2 inches of travel up front and 12.1 inches on the rear axle.

The exterior styling is unique to the Raptor with the Ford blue oval replaced with "FORD" marked in chunky letters on the grille. The hood gets extra vents, fancy wheels shod with off-road tires and unique livery, etc. The interior too have been given a slight makeover. All said, thanks to the highly potent V-8, the Raptor does not fare well when it comes to miles per gallon.

Secondly, Ford will unveil the next-generation F-150 at the 2014 Detroit motor show. The new truck will be based on the 2013 Atlas Concept and will use aluminium to save weight. We can expect a brand new SVT Raptor based on the new F-Series by 2015.
