Ford will unveil next year the most powerful version of the Focus hatchback based on the ST version and this are the first images that are said to be official. Well, official or not -they don’t look so real after all, imagine a car on the road without a driver-, the car will be a very hot thing, and the proof are the 280 hp!

The 2009 Focus RS will compete with the powerful Golf R32, but Ford will keep the price under the price of its competitor. Compared with the R32, the Focus RS will have a FWD system, and not a RWD one, the only reason being the weight.

The 2009 Focus RS will be the 21 RS model launched by the company; first one being the 1970 Escort RS1600.

Under the hood there will be a modified version of the engine found on the ST version, with an output up to 280 hp. The 0 to 60 mph sprint will be made in less than five seconds, while the top speed will be limited to 155 mph.

A concept version will be unveiled in July at the London Motor Show, while the production version will follow in March 2009.

not sure if its a typo but how is this car going to compete with the R32 if its FWD? Thats like saying the AWD R32 is competing with the FWD mazdaspeed3.

Too many cars going all FWD in the name of being light or cutting corners somewhere.
