A Ford Mustang and a Mercedes A45 AMG were involved in a huge crash in South Korea after both cars figured into an ill-advised race that quickly got out of hand. A video of the race taken from inside the Ford Mustang shows the muscle car blatantly disregarding traffic laws in the country. According to the description, both the ‘Stang and the A45 AMG were reportedly running at speeds of up to 110 mph on roads with a 37-mph speed limit. The reckless driving ultimately came back to bite both cars in the bee-hind, resulting in the Mustang getting spun around and ending up on the sidewalk. There are no reports of injuries, so that’s about the only good thing to come out of this idiotic episode.

The level of stupidity in this video is at an all-time high. Not only did the drivers engage in a race that was illegal, they did so by throwing complete caution to the wind, endangering the lives of commuters around them in the process. The race starts at around the 30-second mark where you can see the white Mercedes A45 AMG driving beside the Ford Mustang. Words were exchanged, presumably by the drivers, before the Mustang guns it. The race goes on for almost a minute — really, it lasted that long — before the two cars appeared to collide with one another, causing the Mustang to spin around and crash violently into a tree, snapping the tree in half, literally. The Mustang ended up on the sidewalk with some of its bits lying on the ground.

It’s unclear as to what caused the crash, but after watching the video numerous times, it seems that when the Mustang swerved to avoid the motorcycle rider, it collided with the Mercedes A45 AMG a few times, causing the driver of the muscle car to lose control of the car. You’ll notice, too, that just as the Mustang stops on the sidewalk, you can make out the rear section of the Mercedes A45 AMG alongside it. We can’t say for sure if the A45 AMG driver clipped the Mustang on purpose, but it’s clear that the crash was caused by the two cars running into each other.

Fortunately, it appears that no pedestrian was hurt after the Mustang careened towards the sidewalk. A small tree snapped in half and a parked motorcycle appears to be a casualty of the crash, but for the most part, it doesn’t look like either of the drivers were hurt, either. That’s the only good news to come out of this.

Granted, the Mustang and the AMG A45 would make for a compelling drag race: the A45 AMG’s four-cylinder engine can produce 360 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque while the Mustang in this video sounds like it's the 2.3-liter four-cylinder version that produces 310 and 35 pound-feet of torque. It’s hard to make out the sound of the Mustang’s engine with all the noise in the video, but it doesn’t sound like a V-8 engine. If it was the four-cylinder version, it would explain why the Mustang wasn’t able to gain a clear lead over the A45 AMG.

Either way, chalk this ill-advised street race down to sheer stupidity, exhibited by the blatant disregard for speeding and traffic laws. Let’s hope no one got hurt, though I’m not opposed to seeing the drivers of both cars spend some time behind bars. At the speed they were reportedly racing, this could’ve gone a lot worse for a lot of people.
