Mat Watson and the CarWow team based in the U.K., have put together yet another tug-go-war, this time with Ford commercial vehicles from either side of the Atlantic, with some truly interesting results. Here are the numbers.

Ford Transit MS-RT

In the blue corner, we've got one of the U.K.'s favorite vans, the Ford Transit. The Transit is available in so many permutations and combinations, and the one seen here has been properly beefed up.

The MS-RT Transit is rocking a 2.0-liter diesel mill that puts out 184 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a six-speed auto. The van weighs 4,929 pounds. You've also got a performance body kit and low-profile tires, not ideal in this tug-of-war, but maybe the added weight might help.

Ford Ranger

In the white corner, we have Britain's idea of a Ford Pickup. The Ranger is popular in several markets across the world. Ford even sells a Ranger-based truck called Everest in Asia & Australia. Anyway, under the hood of this bargain-basement workhorse Ranger lies a 2.0-liter diesel mill that puts out a modest 170 horses and 310 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed manual gearbox.

You've got low range as well as a locking differential, kit that should come in handy in this showdown. The Ranger tips the scales at 4,448 pounds. Do note that the Ranger featured here is the pre-facelift model and not the latest Ranger.

Ford F-150 Raptor

From Stateside, we've got the granddaddy of them all, America's most loved vehicle, the F-150, and this one is the beefy Raptor. Now that's more like it. Under the hood of the F-150 Raptor lurks a 3.5-liter Twin-Turbo V-6 that puts out 450 ponies and 510 pound-feet of torque.}

The Raptor dwarfs the Ranger for sheer size and comes in at 5,696 pounds. What also helps the Raptor is that this particular one is sitting on prober off-road nobbly tires. Four-wheel drive and a 10-speed auto. Let's see how these numbers translate in the real world tug of war.

Ford Transit vs Ford Ranger

Round one begins with the van vs truck. Mat sets the Ranger into 4H. On the count of three, two, one. TUG!! Almost immediately, Mat stalled in his pickup and it looked the Van had this round in the kitty. But, hang on.

The moment he fired up the truck again, he was able to stop the transit in its tracks. The 4x4 system and bigger tires help Mat redeem himself, and past that point, it was a walk in the park, and I mean that literally. With low-profile tires, the Transit didn't stand a chance.

Ford Ranger vs Ford F-150 Raptor

With the van taken care of, it was now time for the Ranger to take on its big brother from America. While the Ford is packing far more power, the Raptor is considerably lighter. Both trucks are in the low-range mode, with rear diff locked. Here's what happened.

With the slack in the cable gone, drivers in both trucks put the pedal to the metal. To Mat's surprise, the Ranger put up a good fight, but eventually, it couldn't fend off the Raptor's mighty tower of power. So, that's one each to each of the trucks here.

Ford Transit + Ford Ranger vs Ford F-150 Raptor

For the final round, Mat wanted to see if the Raptor could take on the Ranger and the Transit together. It would be the F-150 Raptor's 450 horses and 510 pound-feet of torque vs Ranger and Transit's combined output of 354 horsepower 616 pound-feet of torque.

Having tied up all three vehicles, the drivers mashed the gas pedal. For some time, not much happened. However, the Raptor eventually began to lose traction as spun its wheels. Surprisingly, the Transit and the Ranger were able to tug the F-150 to the other side.

To Wrap It Up

Overall, this Ford vs Ford face-off was a lot of fun to watch. It shows also shows us the might of the F-150 Raptor, and tugging it was not an easy feat for the van and the Ranger. The F-150 is not officially available in the U.K., but the one seen here was imported into the country.
