Forza Motorsport 7 already has a litany of cars in its fold. Adding more is becoming a little excessive, and yet, the game’s latest downloadable content, the Formula Drift Car Pack, is going to be welcomed with open arms by fanatic gamers like myself. More importantly, the pack is actually coming to both Forza 7 and Forza Horizon 4. That means that you can still go drift-crazy even if you don’t own a copy of the FM7. And the best part? The Car Pack is free!

Turn 10 Studios announced plans to improve drift game modes in Forza 7, and we’re seeing the fruits of that endeavor with the upcoming launch of the Formula Drift Car Pack. The content isn’t going to be available until the fall so you might have to wait to get the drifting itch scratched, but this car pack is another element to Forza 7 to get excited about.

The pack includes seven cars, and in keeping with its theme, all seven cars are full-fledged drift racers, spanning four decades of racing history. Those who want to go old school can drive the 1989 Formula Drift BMW 325i. Those who prefer something a bit modern can choose either the 2015 Formula Drift #13 Ford Mustang or the 2016 Formula Drift #530 HSV Maloo Gen-F. There are drift cars from the 1990s and 2000s, too, including three different versions of the iconic Nissan 240SX. There’s the 1995 Formula Drift #18 Nissan 240SX, the 1996 Formula Drift #232 Nissan 240SX, and the 1997 Formula Drift #777 Nissan 240SX. The 2006 Formula Drift Dodge Viper SRT10 rounds out the roster of drift-tastic race cars.

Going back to Turn 10 Studios’ goal of improving gameplay in drift modes, the developer is adding a new scoring model that essentially breaks down the speed, line, and angle of your run. Gamers can also start adding a drift suspension to any vehicle in the game just in case there’s an urge to get them more tuned to the drifting world. Imagine what’s going to happen when you put a drift suspension on a 1981 Ford Escort XR2. That’s going to be a spectacle in it of itself.

Now that the announcement has been made, the waiting game for the pack’s launch on Forza 7 just got more exciting. Those who are in line to score Forza Horizon 4 will get the pack on October 2, the day the game launches. Hopefully, the pack becomes available for Forza 7 gamers around that time, too. Then again, the whole pack is free, and while seven drift cars aren’t a lot, we’re getting all of them at no cost to our pockets. We should thank Turn 10 Studios for making it that way.
