Part of what makes Turn 10 Studios’ Forza 7 car packs so interesting is the menu of cars that each of these packs offer. Some of the more recent car packs have included beauties like Bugatti Chiron, Kia Stinger, and a 1984 Nissan Bluebird Silhouette, complete with Coca-Cola livery all over it. The games new car pack, called the “K1Speed,” offers a similar kind of automotive diversity. It’s got iconic race cars from yesteryear, a high-performance Italian SUV, and a Honda Odyssey. Yep, a Honda Odyssey.

Oddities can come in a variety of different shapes and sizes. In the real world, the Honda Odyssey is far from an oddity. It’s one of Honda’s most popular models, a fact owed to its functionality above all else. But it’s a different story in the world of Forza 7, where speed and performance are the alphas and omegas of the game. What’s a Honda Odyssey doing in Forza 7? Beats the hell out of me.

It certainly is there, though, and I’m not complaining. Every so often, a game like Forza 7 needs an oddity like the Honda Odyssey. It’s easy to get swallowed up all of the supercars, race cars, exotics, and what-have-you’s that are featured in the video game. So, a car like the Odyssey is a needed change of pace in more ways than one. At least that’s how I think about it.

If you’re not as sold on the minivan finding a spot in Forza 7 through the K1Speed Car Pack, you can take comfort knowing that the pack also includes some heavy hitters. There’s a 1948 Ferrari 166 Inter Sport, a 1996 Porsche 906 Carrera 6, a 1976 Chevrolet No. 76 Greenwood Corvette, a 1980 Porsche 924 Carrera GTS, a 1986 Nissan No. 85 Electramotive Engineering GTP ZX-Turbo, and a 2018 Maserati Levante S. By my count, that’s five classic race cars to add to a game that already has a full roster of them and a performance SUV that should be fun to drive in the virtual environment.

And, then there’s the Odyssey. It may not fit in given the performance pedigree of the other cars in the pack, but it sure is a different kind of different. In a game like Forza 7, this kind of “different” is a welcome addition, even if it likely means that I’m getting smoked every time I use it.
