The world of Fast & Furious is colliding with the world of Forza and it is amazing. To celebrate the release of the upcoming Fast 7 movie, Universal Studios and Xbox have gotten together to create Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious.

This crazy combination sees a collection of cars from the various movies make their way into Forza Horizon 2’s idyllic southern French countryside. You start off getting recruited by Tej Parker, and his in-game character is actually voiced by Ludacris. Your job as new driver for the crew is to help secure all the cool cars they need for their next mission.

Best of all, this is a standalone expansion. That means that you don’t need to own Forza Horizon 2 to play it or download it. And did I mention that it’s free? The Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious game launches on March 27th, and it will be a free download until April 10th. If you miss out on the two-week launch window, the game will jump up to $10 in price. It will be available on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One->ke4786 consoles, but certain features, like access to the Forza Hub app, are exclusive to Xbox One.

If you ever wanted to bomb around in that sweet Charger R/T that Vin Diesel drove in the movies, this looks to be your best chance.

Why it matters

Fast & Furious is a franchise that has been just begging for a video game, but far too often licensed games are handed off to the lowest bidder and the resulting product is less-than-stellar. By teaming up with huge powerhouses in the world of racing, Turn 10 Studios and Playground Games, Universal Studios is ensuring this popular movie series will get the digital treatment it deserves. The fact that this new expansion is based in the world of Forza Horizon 2 not only made the game quicker and easier to develop, it makes it much cheaper, which explains, in part, why Microsoft is offering it for free. Even after the free offer is over, the game will still only cost $10.

Currently Microsoft is saying that there will be “more than 11 cars” from the movies in the game. I hope that over time that number will grow. Imagine if you could drive all your favorite cars from all the movies in the world of Forza Horizon 2. It sounds like a pretty great time to me.

Forza Horizon 2

Forza Horizon 2 is latest title in the Forza Motorsports family of racing games. Horizon 2 sees players thrown into the middle of a large-scale automotive event that has been loosely based on road rallies like the Gumball 3000 and Bull Run. The game takes place along the Mediterranean coast in areas like the south of France and northern Italy. The game is sold for both the Xbox 360 and Xbox One video game consoles from Microsoft.
