GM is wishing that the brand to become as soon as possible a global manufacturer and this means, that pretty soon GM will launch new models that will fill the small-cars market. First to be replaced will be the BLS, but the biggest news is a future competitor for the BMW 1-Series that will be launched in 2011.

The next-generation BLS will share much of its Epsilon II architecture with the next-generation Saab 9-5 and 9-3 due in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

In 2010 GM will launch the Saab 9-4X-based Cadillac BRX compact SUV; that was unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show as the provoq Concept.

Also in 2010 the company will launch the replacement for the rear-wheel drive Cadillac STS large sedan. It will use a revised version of the CTS’ Sigma architecture, which is thought to use plenty of Zeta (VE Commodore) engineering know-how as well.

In 2011 we will see the debut of the next generation SRX and the future Escalade.

But the most important news is the future competitor for the 1-Series that will be called "ATS" that will be built on the "Alpha" platform and will feature a rear-wheel drive system.
