Chinese automaker, GAC Motor, introduced an-electric crossover concept called the Entranze at the 2019 Detroit Auto Show. When we first saw the Entranze, we were left befuddled wondering what it could possibly be. Later we figured out it is an all-electric crossover concept that GAC claims to have designed in the U.S. itself. Why go subtle when you can become the talk of the town?

GAC Marks Its Entrance With The Entranze

GAC Motor has been a regular at the Detroit Auto Show since two years and has been vocal about its plans to sell cars here in the States. Does this name ring a bell? Well, Fontaeus has worked as the director interior designer at Faraday Future before quitting the fund-thirsty start-up in October 2017. Prior to that, he worked with companies like Ferrari, Land Rover, and Volvo as well.

Funky or Freaky?

Have you seen the Faraday’s FF 91? The Entranze shares a resemblance with that lost cause. The Entranze looks like a minivan that you would find in The Jetsons. It even has sliding doors made up of glass mainly. To hell with safety measures when you can have glass doors instead, right? As long as it remains a ‘concept’, we are not worried. But on the flip-side, the Entranze looks like a perfect party machine for those weekend getaways. The Entranze is a three-row crossover and has a three-seat bench at the front. This seems to be taken from the 1980s while the rest of the car is from the future.

Screens, Screens, Everywhere

On the inside, the GAC looks like its Chinese compatriot, Byton. Step inside and you’ll see the entire dashboard full of screens. The space where the dashboard and the doors meet has two small OLED screens crammed into it. 90-percent of the interior materials are made of cork. This is kind of becoming a trend now; automakers using different material inside the cabin. The Infiniti QX Inspiration features wood, marble, etc on the inside, and now GAC Entranze uses cork! I’m not sure how user-friendly these things are, or how long they will last under different weather conditions.

Final Thoughts

GAC did not reveal any specifications of the production version of the Entranze. If things go smoothly with the U.S. launch, the Chinese automaker will bring along more conventional vehicles like the GS5 SUV and GMC minivan that are displayed alongside the Entranze at the Detroit Auto Show.
