Labor Day weekend; it’s the last three-day weekend most of us get before the leaves start changing and we have to start wearing warmer clothes to leave the house. This also means it’s the perfect time for one last summer road trip, and while gas isn’t exactly cheap by any means, it’s cheaper this labor day weekend than it has been since 2004. In fact, this time last year,s the national average $0.27 per gallon more than it is right now, according to AAA.

So, despite the fact that gas prices are slowly increasing yet again, thanks to things like higher crude oil pricing, refinery issues, and those crazy tropical storms down south, you’re still looking pretty good if you want to embark on one last summer journey. For those of you who are curious, a AAA survey suggests that about 55 percent of Americans are planning a road trip this weekend thanks to the lower gas prices this year. After all, back in 2013, the average price of gas was just of $3,50 per gallon. And, in 2014, it was around $3.40. That makes the national average of $2.22 right now pretty decent, doesn’t it?

With that said, if you’re going to take that last road trip this summer, be safe out there. Remember to have courtesy for your fellow drivers and keep it between the lines. Enjoy this wonderful three-day weekend!
