Gemballa reminds me of some of the most hideous looking tuning jobs ever, but, once in a while they do make proper supercars stand out from the crowd. Gemballa also specialize in tuning Porsches->ke1.

One of the very popular models they have worked upon is the Carrera GT. Gemballa created a handful of unique special editions based on the Porsche supercar and called the Gemballa Mirage GT.

These one-off cars were sold out almost instantly and being unique pieces of German engineering, Gemballa made few bucks on every car sold. Now, a Gemballa Mirage GT 'Special Edition' is up for sale in Germany.

Given the standard car would have cost about $450,000 in the U.S., the used Gemballa Mirage GT has a price tag of $780,000. That is a lot of money even for a Carrera GT that has been tweaked to produce 650 horsepower and is painted black with orange accents. The car has 12,000 miles on its odometer.

Gemballa Mirage GT

Black Edition, Matte Edition, Carbon Edition and the one featured in this article are a bunch of very rare Carrera GT mods which are out there. Created by Gemballa, the Mirage GT uses the same 5.7-liter V-10 as the standard Carrera GT->ke2124 but with added horsepower. The engine in the Gemballa version puts out 650 horsepower and no less than 465 pound-feet of torque.

Comparing this performance with the standard car, the Gemballa Mirage GT's engine delivers about 40 horsepower more. Top speed of the car is clocked at 208 mph while the time it takes to reach 60 mph from standstill has dropped from 3.9 sec to 3.7 sec.

The exterior of this "Special Edition" Mirage GT is finished in deep black. Tiny details of the car have been highlighted with the use of orange paint which does look quite interesting. The engine intake covers get the orange treatment and so do the brake calipers. The bi-xenon headlights too get orange rings around them.

Step inside the cabin and the black-orange theme has been carried over. The unique arm rest pods on the doors get the contrast treatment. The dials are orange and so a part of the dashboard. There naked carbon-fiber bits too.

That having said, this special edition is not fitted with additional aerodynamic bumpers and sills like the other models Gemballa made. The exterior of this car is left stock with just the addition of new logos and badges. The door sills get unique Mirage GT badges too. Gemballa also add a pair new exhausts so that the Mirage GT now has four mufflers sticking out of its back.

Other modifications on this car include a carbon fiber steering wheel, mirror blades, rear diffuser and tuning vanes, side skirts with intakes, roof mounted air-intake that continues on to the engine bay, Gemballa Sport Clutch, electro hydraulic lifting system, new bumpers, bonnet, fenders, etc. and Special Sport lightweight custom exhaust system.
