Hyundai’s luxury brand – Genesis – is not slowing down. In addition to the SUV models that recently went on sale, the brand is also about to debut their new executive sedan – the G90. With what is shaping to be an almost full Genesis lineup, the only type of car that is yet to make an appearance is a sports coupe. However, there are indications that this might change very soon, as Genesis is giving us subtle hints and the writing is starting to appear on the wall.

In its recent presentations, Genesis hints at a sports coupe being in development and joining the brand’s portfolio sometime in the near future. They already have a full arsenal of luxury sedans, as well as a mid-size and a full-size SUV. All that remains is the much-talked-about performance luxury coupe that was even teased in a Genesis video not too long ago.

It is believed that the future Korean coupe will feature design cues from the 2018 Genesis Essentia concept, which was a bold all-electric car with butterfly doors and classic proportions.} Although it’s not certain yet, it is believed that there will be an entire lineup of Genesis coupe models, starting with a compact model, carrying the GT70 moniker.

The Korean luxury brand already has a new rear-wheel-drive platform, which will debut with the new G90. The current version of the engine makes 380 horsepower (283 kilowatts) at 5,800 RPM and 391 pound-feet (530 Nm) at 1,300 - 4,500 RPM. For future models, power is expected to go up to at least 420 horsepower (313 kilowatts) and 412 pound-feet (559 Nm). The power plant will be mated to an eight-speed wet-clutch DCT. Genesis may have also hinted at an EV version, although that will come at a later point.
