The new Genesis Electrified GV70 made its global debut at the Guangzhou Auto Show in China and it's the South Korean luxury automaker's third electric vehicle (EV) after the Electrified G80 and GV60.

Whereas the GV60 rides on a bespoke EV platform like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, the Electrified GV70 is basically the same car as the standard GV70, but without an internal combustion engine (ICE).

Providing zero-emission propulsion to the Electrified GV70 is a twin-motor setup that has a combined output of 482 horsepower and 516 lb-ft (700 Nm) of torque. This all-wheel drive (AWD) electric SUV scoots from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 4.5 seconds. It must be noted that the given figures are if the car is in Boost mode. No power figures in Normal mode were given by the company.

The company did not release any details regarding its battery size, though Genesis estimates a range of 400 kilometers (around 248 miles). However, it is confirmed that the Genesis Electrified GV70 has a 400V/800V multi-rapid charging system just like in the GV60, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Kia EV6. This means that it can charge from 10 to 80 percent in just 18 minutes when using a 350 kW rapid charger.

The electric version of the GV70 also has a V2L (Vehicle to Load) feature that supports a 3.6kW charge, which is higher than the power supply in the average home. This capability lets customers use appliances while the vehicle is charging.

As a way to conserve energy while on the move, the Genesis Electrified GV70 has a feature called a Disconnector Actuator System (DAS). Basically, this is similar to AWD systems that can disconnect the front or rear axle and switch to two-wheel drive (2WD) depending on the road conditions in order to save battery charge.

Other new driving features unique to the Electrified GV70 include Smart Regenerative Braking that activates depending on the driving habits and also works with the navigation system, Active Noise Cancellation-Road (ANC-R), and i-Pedal single-pedal driving mode.

As for its design, the Genesis Electrified GV70 looks largely the same as the standard model. The only differences are an enclosed G-Matrix grille that also houses the charge port and the removal of the exhaust pipes.

Likewise, the interior is also similar to the standard GV70. Your only indicators that this is the electrified version are the Boost button on the steering wheel, smaller central tunnel, and increased amount of eco-friendly materials.

The 2022 Genesis Electrified GV70 will go on sale in select markets starting next year and is expected to be the most expensive variant in the GV70 lineup.
