Having introduced three sedans from 2015 to 2017, Genesis is now preparing to launch a couple of SUVs. The first one goes by the name GV80 and we've seen it being tested in the wild quite a few times. But Hyundai's luxury division has yet to drop the camo so we had to do a rendering based on the details we knew and saw. Now, thanks to an early leak, we can get a good look at the SUV. And it's way hotter than we expected. Check it out below.

The 2021 Genesis GV80 looks really menacing

There's a massive grille in the center that extends all the way into the bumper and features a fine mesh finished in black. The grille is flanked by really thin headlamps with LED bars. There are two elements on each side, a layout that gives the front fascia a frowining look. Down below, there's a heavily sculpted bumper with vertical vents on the sides and a thin yet wide intake in the center. The engine hood is raised toward the center, so it's more muscular than most SUVs out there. The GV80 is not a vehicle you want to see in your rear-view mirror.

The profile is just as aggressive thanks to a swooping beltline that runs above the doors and connects to the taillights in the rear, as well as a heavily sculpted side skirt area. It also features black grilles in the front fenderrs and rides on multi-spoke wheels painted black. The ride height is actually lower than most SUVs, so the GV80 looks sporty from the sides as well.

The rear fascia mimics the front end with twin horizontal taillights on each side of the tailgate. The fascia is surprisingly clean, but the bumper looks rather sporty thanks to a diffsuer-like element and big tailpipes. That's something you don't see every day on a crossover. Overall, the GV80 is quite an appealing vehicle design-wise.

The 2021 Genesis GV80 features a modern interior

Instead of a traditional three-spoke design, the GV80 has a two-spoke steering wheel, but it actually looks like it one continuous, thick spoke from one side to the other, like automakers used to feature in the 1960s. It has a big center section wrapped in leather and all the controls you need in a modern vehicle. The instrument cluster in the background looks all-digital, while the infotainment screen on the dashboard is really wide. The dashboard also incorporates a thin, continuous air-vent strip, a feature that's starting to become a trend apparently.

The 2021 Genesis GV80 will be plenty powerful

The base model should come with a 3.8-liter V-6 mill that cranks out 311 horsepower and 293 pound-feet of torque. The range-topping model will probably boast the familiar 5.0-liter V-8, rated at 420 horsepower and 383 pound-feet in the G80 sedan. Both engines will mate to an eight-speed automatic transmission. AWD will be standard on the V-8 model and optional on the V-6 version.
