Back in January, GM announced that the Hummer brand is making a comeback as an electric brand. A couple of weeks later, the automaker teased the reincarnated brand’s first vehicle, an electric truck, in a commercial at the 2020 Superbowl. The short ads revealed a few details about the ‘quiet revolution’ along with the reveal date – May 20, 2020. The countdown had already begun and people were already looking forward to it, but it looks like the launch is delayed. The company announced in a statement that the Hummer EV’s launch is delayed due to the ongoing pandemic. Well, that’s the latest launch to be affected by COVID-19.
The Hummer EV's Launch Has Been Pushed Indefinitely
For a brand known for its gas-guzzling capabilities, it was quite a surprise to see it being resurrected as a completely different animal. Enthusiasts were looking forward to the launch on May 20 this year since the company didn’t reveal a lot of details about the truck. However, the debut has been postponed for now and no tentative launch timeline has been announced.
The automaker confirmed the delay in a statement - "While we cannot wait to show the GMC Hummer EV to the world, we will reschedule the May 20 reveal date. In the meantime, the team's development work continues on track and undeterred. We invite all to stay tuned for more stories on this super truck's incredible capability leading up to its official debut."

There is no word as to when the launch will happen, but the good news is that production is on track and the truck will hit the dealerships as scheduled.
