The trailer also gave us a glimpse of the supertruck’s silhouette

Apart from the Bronco, there was another nameplate set to make a return this year – the Hummer. GMC even played out commercials at the Superbowl announcing a 20 May 2020 debut, but that didn’t happen due to the pandemic. Now, the company has announced that the Hummer will debut later this fall. The production of the electric super truck will begin in the fall of 2021.

The Exact Date And Time Of The Reveal Is Still Unknown

Instead of reincarnating it as a fuel-guzzling beast, GMC took a whole new different approach of introducing it as an EV. It did garner a lot of interest and GMC kept the momentum going by releasing Superbowl adverts as well. Not a lot was announced about the Hummer EV, except for a few powertrain specs.

Now, the company has released a trailer announcing the reveal date.

The Hummer EV will be unveiled later this fall and the production of the truck will begin at the same time next year.

At the end of the video, you can also see the truck’s silhouette from the side. The trailer also revealed that the truck will have an Ultium battery. Back in March, GM revealed the Ultium batteries and a flexible global platform for its EVs. These are basically pouch-style cells that can be packed either horizontally or vertically in the battery pack. This is said to have a good impact on the performance and charging times.

The ‘Infinity Roof’ could perhaps be a fancy name for a panoramic moonroof. Modular sky panels are most likely the four-section panels of the removable roof. We’ll wait for the automaker to throw more light on this. You can expect GMC to release more details along the way to build up the hype of the super truck once again.
