Halo’s Warthog Buggy To Become Available in Forza Horizon 3
Is there a chance we’ll see cars from other movie or video game franchises?by Kirby, on
Forza Horizon 3 already features one of the most extensive collection of cars in the franchise’s long and illustrious history, but the choices are about to take a unique turn with the addition of The Warthog from the Halo video game franchise. You read that right. A car from Halo will be playable in Forza Horizon 3. Let that sink in.
For those who don’t play Halo, the Warthog is a 720-horsepower 2554 AMG Transport Dynamics M12S civilian transport vehicle that counts the M12 Force Application Vehicle as its militaristic counterpart. It’s also regarded as one of the most popular rides in the military science fiction first-shooter video game. It’s so popular that it’s apparently getting the rare crossover treatment with its introduction into the world of Forza. Those who own either Halo 5: Guardians or Halo: The Master Chief Collection can get the car for free, although those who don’t have either of the two games can still get the Warthog when it becomes available through a special #Forzathon contest that’s being prepared for October. In any case, there’s an all-too real opportunity to play with the Warthog in a far different environment that what it’s used to.
There’s no word yet on whether other cars will be available from other video game franchises, but the precedent being set by the Warthog does open up those possibilities. Is there a chance that we get to see the Tron light cycle in there? Maybe the cars from Mad Max: Fury Road too? At this point, I’m opening myself to whatever vehicles are added into the game. There are over 350 of them now and apparently, there’s no stopping Turn 10 Studios from adding another 350 cars.
Forza Horizon 3 is set to hit stores on September 27 but those who are getting the Forza Horizon 3 Ultimate Edition will get their hands on the game four days earlier on September 23.

Why it matters
As if having more than 350 playable cars isn’t enough, Forza Horizon 3 is opening up a world of possibilities with the introduction of Halo’s Warthog. It’s an interesting wrinkle that could one day lead fans of the franchise to ask for other cars from other movie or video game franchise. I know I’m going to be one of those people because I can’t wait to ride the Tron light cycle in this kind of environment.
As far as the Warthog is concerned, it should make for an incredible ride in Forza Horizon 3. Since the game has an Australian outback environment, the Warthog is going to feel incredibly at home in that place. It might even make for a competitive race with the Local Motors Rally Fighter.
In any event, eligible gamers will receive codes through an Xbox Live Message that they can use to download the Warthog. The codes are expected to be sent out beginning on Monday, September 5 and will be available for the whole week.
